Dear Colleagues,

Please see and share the following announcements:

Training Seminar for Economists on Ethics, Integrity, and Responsible Leadership
(Click Here to Find Out More and to Register)

The Association for Integrity and Responsible Leadership in Economics is offering another one of its full-day training seminars in Chicago on Sunday, January 8, 2017. The seminar is independent of the annual meetings of the Allied Social Science Association (ASSA), but it will be easy for people to attend it who are already attending the ASSA conference (especially since the ASSA conference ends early on that day). The seminar takes place about four blocks away from the main conference hotel, in the magnificent Chicago Cultural Center. Space will also be made available for people to store their bags if they are traveling immediately after the seminar. (The cost is $95, or $50 for students.)

The same seminar was held in February 2016, in Washington D.C., the day before the annual meetings of the Eastern Economic Association. It was endorsed by the Eastern Economic Association and by the National Economists Club, and it received highly favorable reviews. Several organizations sent their employees to the seminar to meet their annual training requirements in leadership and ethics, and seminar attendees accordingly receive a certificate of expertise. Not only will the seminar provide a wide range of insightful presentations, but will engage the audience in provocative and interactive discussions about some of the most challenging issues that economists, in all fields, face today.

Some of the distinguished speakers at the seminar will include:
  • D. McCloskey, & G. DeMartino, Oxford Handbook of Professional Economic Ethics;
  • Agency Leaders: Erica Groshen (BLS), Keith Hall (CBO), and Brian Moyer (BEA);
  • D. Colander, The Making of an Economist, and many economics books and textbooks;
  • S. Ziliak, The Cult of Statistical Significance (with D. McCloskey);
  • R,G. Anderson, former Vice President of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis
